Course further information

In this course CAPTv2, a SASS-C module for coverage analysis and planning, is the enabling software tool for achieving the main objective, i.e. planning surveillance system installations, based on solid and objective coverage analysis. The purpose of CAPT is to allow users to specify ground stations associated with different surveillance techniques, calculate the geographical coverage of the ground stations, and display the overall coverage achieved by a surveillance system, including the multiplicity of coverage provided either by a single technique or a mixture of different surveillance techniques. CAPT calculates and displays the following types of coverage: • Line-of-Sight (LoS) coverage maps based on an obstruction analysis of digital terrain data. • Performance Restricted (PR) coverage maps (ADS-B\TIS-B\WAM only) based on comparing the calculated performance of the surveillance technology with user-defined minimum performance requirements.
An understanding of the complete surveillance chain is required, including the sensors and surveillance data processing. SASS-C knowledge is a surplus, but not strictly required.
Important Note
The course is organised in the same week of and directly after the SUR-VERIF-ADV course. It means that the PREDICT course (based on CAPT) can be attended as a separate course, but also as an extension of the SUR-VERIF-ADV course (in this case you still have to register for both courses).
After completing the course, the participants will be able to perform basic coverage analysis and planning for a mixture of surveillance techniques, using the CAPT software.
This course takes place over 2 days.
This course is designed for engineers/ project managers who want to install/configure a surveillance system, based on solid analysis of the resulting overall coverage. Thus, project managers with a basic surveillance knowledge can also benefit from the course.
