  Practical exercises
ARTAS (ATM Surveillance Tracker and Server) is the European state-of-the-art SDPS (surveillance data processing system). ARTAS is operational in an increasing number of European states and is being implemented in a number of other states for pre-operational evaluation. The latest version of ARTAS supports all modern surveillance techniques, such as Mode S, ADS-B and wide-area multilateration (WAM). This course, designed for ARTAS engineers, aims at an in-depth understanding of the ARTAS tracker. Simulations and exercises are used to demonstrate the theoretical parts of the course. The hands-on exercises are performed on a MATHLAB based modelisation of the ARTAS tracking algorithms. The resulting simulator software is used instead of the whole ARTAS system, for efficiency reasons and for easing the learning process.
As a minimum, the SUR-ARTAS-TRK course participants shall have attended the SUR-ARTAS course or shall have equivalent experience. Additionally the participants shall preferably have a reasonable mathematical knowledge in the fields of probabilities and tracking.
Important Note
This course is only delivered in the second semester of the year.
After completing the course, participants will be able to describe the main algorithms of the ARTAS tracker. In addition they will have the elements for starting ARTAS tracker tuning activities, in order to optimise its performance.
This course takes place over 4 days.
This course is designed for engineers who envisage an in-depth understanding of the ARTAS tracker algorithms. Tuning the tracker through its parameters is typically part of his/her job.
