As SASS-C version 6 is to be replaced by SASS-C version 7, these are probably the last SASS-C version 6 courses.
Surveillance Analysis Support System for Centre (SASS-C) is a LINUX-based software product developed by EUROCONTROL to enable the performance of the various elements of the surveillance chain to be measured, particularly those supporting air traffic services in en-route airspace. SASS-C offers a way of evaluating the performance of the surveillance infrastructure, at either the sensor or the tracker level. As such the tool plays a key role for evaluations in support of related SES regulations.
Building on the foundations provided by the associated introductory training course (SUR-SASSC-V6-INTRO), participants on this advanced level course will gain an in-depth understanding of the potential of the SASS-C tool. The course is designed to teach skills in the use of SASS-C, and utilises both theoretical and practical training sessions. Practical training sessions use an individual PC running the latest SASS-C V6 version and will offer the opportunity to use some of the more advanced analysis facilities that are available. A standard dataset is available for practical training sessions, but participants are welcome to bring their own dataset with them.
The course also provides an overview of the current use of the SASS-C tool and its likely future role within the Single European Sky context.
- A knowledge of sensors used in current surveillance systems, and of surveillance data processing systems, is essential in order to fully understand this course.
- Hands-on experience with the SASS-C V6 tool or previous participation in the SASS-C V6 Introductory course.
Please note that this course is held locally upon request at the location of your choice. If you are interested, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- perform some of the more complex evaluations that are possible using the SASS-C V6 analysis tool;
- conduct a global evaluation and related reporting;
- use the appropriate SASS-C V6 features to optimise the evaluation.
Please note: Although a number of example implementations are illustrated, this course does not cover data communications issues related to connecting the SASS-C tool to the network or directly to the sensor.
This course is designed for engineers and technicians involved in surveillance sensor evaluation. It may also be of interest to managers and operational staff involved in sensor evaluation.
All candidates will receive a certificate of attendance.
No fee applies for course participants from Member States’ competent authorities and certified organisations. The training cost is sponsored by the EUROCONTROL Work Programme.
The price per course participant from other organisations or individuals is 1200 EUR.
