Team Resource Management TRM is a safety management intervention that protects ATM systems from a common cause of system failure. TRM focuses on safe human performance and recognizes the impact of teamwork specifics on ATM operations. Over the last 30 years, airlines have been very successful in promoting enhanced team-working practices. Nearly every airline around the world applies the principles of Crew Resource Management (CRM) for pilots and other operational airline staff. Regulators like the JAA before and EASA recently have made the regular CRM training compulsory. This raised the question of whether a comparable concept for operational staff would benefit the ATS system. To this end, a concept for operational staff was developed called Team Resource Management (TRM). The Team Resource Management Practical Facilitation Skills course enables ANSPs to implement the TRM concept by training their staff to facilitate TRM sessions. During this intensive course, participants will be asked to facilitate a group discussion individually and to co-facilitate a half-day TRM session in the English language as a member of a small team. This requires a sound level of active English language knowledge (e.g. ICAO Level 5).
