The PEGASUS toolbox has been developed to support the validation of two principal augmentations to GPS, Space-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) and Ground-Based Augmentation Systems (GBAS), as well as to support the future GALILEO system in civil aviation. It integrates civil aviation user requirements, ensure that developed systems are operationally acceptable and meet the safety regulation activities, in support of EUROCONTROL’s role of safeguarding and strengthening the aviation influence on satellite navigation development.
This set of tools is designed to assist ANS providers and stakeholders in evaluating the performance of satellite navigation signals-in-space. Actually, the development activities associated with PEGASUS facilitates the transition process from conventional NAVAIDs to satellite navigation and particularly supporting the development and validation of GPS/GALILEO/SBAS/GBAS functionalities.
This course provides GNSS principles and basics technical training on the processes and practices to assess the performance of satellite navigation signals-in-space supporting custom applications. Those applications can be GPS/GALILEO/SBAS/GBAS applications in the frame of the GNSS systems operational validation and monitoring, as well as, research projects or assessment of the available GNSS systems service at user level
A high-level of conversational English language proficiency is a prerequisite.
It would be preferable that the participants have experience with at least one programming or scripting language, knowledge in statistics and/or mathematics, and a basic understanding of the standards, requirements and conventions used in GPS wide and local area augmentation systems.

The training agenda focuses on the attendees needs, and tutorial material is provided accordingly. The tutorial introduces the typical tasks, such as static and flight data evaluation, report generation and anomaly investigation techniques. The course objectives are:
Provide basic GPS, SBAS and GBAS fundamentals;
Provide key skills to use PEGASUS Software;
Show PEGASUS Software functionalities;
Demonstrate data and error analysis methods;
Describe basic scenarios and methods for adaptation;
Reference material for future consultation;
Standardisation documentation references;
This course is recommended for space-based navigation infrastructure experts, as well as for data architects, software developers, analysts and scientists who need to evaluate the performance of satellite navigation signals-in-space for aviation applications.
All candidates will receive a certificate of attendance.
No fee applies for course participants from Member States’ competent authorities and certified organisations. The training cost is sponsored by the EUROCONTROL Work Programme.
