This specific tools course is designed to support navigation infrastructure planners and technical experts. The course will start with a PBN overview and a discussion on GNSS, its vulnerabilities and the role of terrestrial aids in GNSS reversion. The navigation infrastructure assessment process is explained based on ICAO and Eurocontrol Guidance Material, including how this process interfaces with other actors required for PBN implementation. Following this introduction, the course will then explain how to use DEMETER for infrastructure assessment and optimization, including ‘hands on’ exercises. This includes the set up and configuration of DEMETER (navaid and terrain databases), facility coverage, area RNAV performance and procedure-specific RNAV performance assessments. All the various tools, including flight inspection data interfaces and the siting tool, will also be explained. The expectation is that this training will support the State when terrestrial infrastructure assessments are required.
There are no prerequisites for this course. However, participants are expected to bring their own laptops with the DEMETER Software installed. An awareness of the PBN concept is an advantage.
This specific tools course is designed to support navigation infrastructure planners and technical experts. The course explains how to use DEMETER for infrastructure assessment and optimisation and includes practical exercises.
This course aims to give navigation infrastructure experts, flight inspectors and procedure designers ‘hands on’ experience in using the DEMETER software for infrastructure assessment and planning and to provide answers to any questions the participants may have.
The DEMETER course is designed specifically for procedure designers, navigation infrastructure experts and flight inspectors and is not recommended for anyone who does not work on terrestrial navigation aids.
All candidates will receive a certificate of attendance.
