The course describes the complete surveillance chain - relevant for both civil and military - from detection (PSR, SSR/Mode S, ADS and MLAT) via surveillance data distribution, processing, analysis to display. Also avionics used for surveillance purposes are described. After this overview surveillance aspects in SES/SESAR - mainly focussing on performance and on the strategy - and in the Centralised Services will be presented and discussed.
Participants require a basic understanding of ATM.
After completing the course, participants will be able to describe the basic principles of operation, overall architecture and limitations of the current surveillance techniques and products and consider the surveillance area in the broader scope of SES/SESAR and Centralised Services.
This course is designed for technical managers, regulators, starting surveillance engineers and operational staff who want a basic understanding of the surveillance data flow/processing from detection to display.
