ATM security measures, as part of aviation security, are designed to safeguard civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference and are therefore becoming ever more important in the ATM industry. This course is an awareness course for ATM staff dealing with ATM security as regulators, project managers or ANSP security staff. It provides participants with a basic understanding of the ATM security regulation framework and the purpose of security management systems, and particularly focuses on the process of carrying out a risk assessment, a key activity for SESAR and other ATM project managers. The course guides participants through a simple and also a more complex - ATM related - risk assessment, making use of the existing toolkit. The course also provides a forum for sharing experiences of implementing security management systems. Different cases, presented by experts, enlarge the ATM security awareness; e.g information security, CNS security, SWIM security and security aspects of the SDDS (Surveillance Data Distribution System).
The Training Zone Syllabus of the course contains a description of the scope of the ATM system, subject of the risk assessment that will be conducted during the course. Participants should read this before coming to the course.
